ray was born from the concept of providing a focused illumination with a simple steel shade, which expresses steel’s hardness and softness simultaneously. cold rolled steel shade was heat-formed to express a porcelain-like moldability. the bottom of the shade was flame heated to produce mill scale and color variation. the result is a minimal cylindrical light with unique materiality that can only be expressed through steel.
